Good to know

This 800 sq ft one bedroom cottage is separate from house on property and is not shared with anyone else. There is parking available. There is no direct access to the lake from the cottage. Pattison Lake is known as the quiet lake due to its 5 mph speed limit. You will see kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, row boats, fishing boats, etc., but no loud motor boats. This 250 lake acreage lake is open year round and offers good opportunity for fishing for stocked rainbow trout. The lake also supports naturally reproducing populations of largemouth bass, yellow perch, black crappie, and rock bass. Even though there is no lake access from the cottage, there is public access to 3 lakes close by (less than 6 miles from cottage). -Pattison lake public access is very basic and has a boat ramp. -Long Lake public access has a beach area with life guards. There is a boat ramp with kayak and paddle board rentals. -Lake St. Claire public access has a boat ramp and fishing pier. This is a much nicer area than Pattison Lake boat ramp. For travelers seeking convenient transportation, the cottage is 1.5 miles from Amtrak's Olympia/Lacey Centennial train station. Please note the cottage is not baby-proofed. Please contact the hosts before booking with your infant or toddler. Pets We welcome your dogs with prior approval! We do have a size restriction on dogs - none larger than 40 lbs. We also ask that dogs are well-behaved and leashed when outside the cottage. We do ask for a $100 per pet per fee to help us keep up with the cleaning. Important note on Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals: Service Animal: The service animal must be under the control of its handler at all times. The service animal will be with its handler at all times and not left alone in the cottage at any time. Any service animal that is not a dog requires prior approval from the host. If a service animal’s behavior becomes disruptive, dangerous, or poses a threat to other guests/owners, we may ask the guest to take corrective action or remove the animal from the property. Access to Public Areas: Service animals are allowed in all areas where guests are normally allowed to go. This includes common areas and the guest cottage. We do not charge an extra fee for service animals, as this is considered part of reasonable accommodation under the ADA. Emotional Support Animals: Please note that emotional support animals, comfort animals, or pets that do not perform specific tasks related to a disability are not considered service animals under the ADA. While we love pets, we ask that you follow our regular pet policy if you plan to bring one along. More details on pets can be found in the guidebook we will send to you after booking. If you want to bring a pet that is not a dog, please request permission before finalizing the booking. The owner is allergic to cats, so please no cats. Thanks! Summertime The cottage remains cool during the summer from the trees and the breeze off the lake. Occasionally Olympia gets temperatures over 85, so we also have an air conditioner in the living room for your comfort. Please turn the AC off when not in the cottage. When the windows are open, the train whistle might disturb you, others find it enchanting. We have an optional white noise fan to help reduce noise.

The house is beautiful and cozy place to stay. The house had everything we needed to feel right at home. The view from the living room was breath taking, while drinking coffee. The host was amazing and extremely responsive . Highly recommended to stay.

The Heron cottage is clean, quiet, and safe. We enjoyed our stay. It is not easy finding a decent place when you are traveling with three pups, so we appreciate that they were dog friendly.

Heron Cottage was absolutely delightful! Situated by a gorgeous lake, the property offered serene and picturesque views that immediately put us at ease. Celeste and Dan, the onsite hosts, were incredibly welcoming and responsive; they even proactively offered an early check-in, making our arrival smooth and stress-free. Anytime we needed assistance, someone friendly was readily available, ensuring we felt completely cared for throughout our stay. The cottage itself was thoughtfully stocked with everything you could imagine needing, truly providing a comfortable and inviting home away from home. Highly recommend this lovely retreat for anyone looking to relax in comfort surrounded by natural beauty!

Very quiet, peaceful neighborhood. Decided on the Heron Cottage since it was in the middle of the 3 national parks. Myself, along with my girlfriend were able to go to MT Rainier, Mt St Helens, North Cascades, and Olympic National park along with other hotspots in the Washington state. The Airbnb was a perfect place to come back after long days of driving, we also got to meet the Host’s dog, Rosie. Who was very eager for a quick petting session. We also loved looking at the birds and squirrels eating at the bird feeders nearby. Would recommend this stay, if I happen to ever be back in the beautiful Washington State, it’ll be an easy stay here.

I'm so happy we found this place! We needed a home away from home when coming to Olympia to visit family and now we've found it. I just hope it's available when we come back in the future because it's such an enchanting, private and serene natural setting while also being close to Olympia. I have sleep issues and wondered what it would be like to have trains passing by, but they were actually very soothing, even and perhaps especially at night. I missed them when there weren't any during the final night of my stay, but thankfully one came by early in the morning to send me on my way as I regretfully had to say goodbye to this wonderful little cottage. But we'll be back! Thank you for offering a lovely place in an idyllic and ideal location🌞🌲🌷

John’s place was beautifully located on a lake. Great views. Mt Rainier was visible when driving. This was a quiet place with many stores and food locations near. I would highly recommend this place and would book again.
